New city, who dis?

Yoooo … I know it’s been 5 years since I wrote my last post but I am back with more stories. Let’s pick up from where we left off. They year was 2008 and I woke up right next to a dunkin donuts, sadly I couldn’t get donuts because I was broke but I used my coins to finally call my mom and reported to her my current status. She told me Maria was on her way to JFK airport to pick me up.

Hold on… remember Maria? Lol No? ok … Maria was supposed to travel with me and help me out to get to USA with no problem but unfortunately she got detained at the airport because she forgot to declare some food from Peru. Anyways, I heard my name through the airport speaker so I immediately ran to the airports security office. There she was, she seemed upset and sick but did not say a word to me.

NYC is a humongous city with many cars; it took us 1 hour to go from the airport to her friend house in Queens to spend the night. We were programmed to leave tomorrow morning to Upstate NY where my mom was. It was extremely cold outside but I felt relief I was going to sleep in a bed! – However, in my mind, I wanted to go back to Peru so bad. It was not a good start in a new country with a different language…. 2 minutes later… I passed out zzz..

The next morning, I still couldn’t believe I was in a different country like wtf? … but I got up, breakfast was served and Maria  was already sitting at the table. She still did not look very good, I asked her “ What is wrong?” she told me she has diabetes and her blood sugar level was super high, she needed to go to the hospital.😲

America Runs on Dunkin.

What is up amigos!!...Its me again. I really hoped you liked the last story I know it was a little bit more tragic but its reality and there is nothing we can do to avoid that. Now you guys let's go back to JFK's airport.

5 hours had passed since the taxi driver left me in the entrance of the airport. I have no documents on me so I tried to find a place where to sleep the night away or at least for a couple of hours. While I was sitting next to this place call Dunkin Donuts (reminds me so much of "The Simpsons") I tried to remember my mom's phone  so I can call her and let her know my current situation. But at the same time I did not want to worry her.

After a long nap I woke up and I suddenly remembered all my moms digits. Hallelujah! I claimed!. I stood from my seat and asked a gentleman where the calling phones were?.. and he pointed me to the restrooms..I was like, "God damn it! I was wrong again."  I tried to ask him where the phone was, but apparently he understood a totally different thing.

I walk and walk a long  way until I found a public phone. Yes!! Thank you Jesus.

I desperately dialed all the numbers before I forget, and  luckily my mom was on the other line... Mom!??! and my mother answered, "Son, Where the hell were you.!??

I told her, " Mama, I lost my passport and flight to Watertown, everything happened too fast that I don't know."  Funny fact was that I could not see her, but I think my mom was having a heart attack as I was telling her the whole story about how I lost my passport.

After talking to her for a while, she told me that Maria had called her a few hours ago. She told me Maria was really worried about me, and she did not know where I was. Okay, first of all, it was glad to hear that Maria did not get deported to Peru and Secondly where was she???

Maria was on her way to JFK to pick me up and take me to Watertown, Apparently she was very upset to me because I did not wait for her at the airport...

Gracias!!!

I would travel only by horse, if I had the choice.

Hola!!... It's me once again, and it would be awesome if you guys subscribe to this blog to get the latest posts!.

Well, as I was telling, the flight from Miami to New York lasted for 2 hours. The longest flight of my life. When I opened my eyes there were only 15 minutes left to landing. As time passed I increasingly became nervous and anxious at the same time. I did not know what to expect or whatsoever. The landing was successful, but now it was time to disembark.

Once at the airport I immediately contacted my mother in Watertown, I told her Maria could not traveled with me for the reasons you guys already know and  I have no idea where she was. There were a few seconds of silence in the phone, and I thought the communication between us had been cut off. However she was still in line so I said, "Hola!?" after a couple of seconds she replied, "Yes! I'm here, can you please explain me what happened?." Then I proceed with the explanation in detail..Finally she decided to buy a plane ticket from New York to Watertown on Jet Blue, but in order to take the plane I would have had to move from La Guardia Airport to JFK Airport. The distance in between the two airports was not much, but for a trip like that I would have to take a taxi because I was carrying heavy bags with me.

After leaving the airport, the day was too cold, it really felt like the inside of a refrigerator. Sorry guys I wasn't used to that much cold yet. I had never experienced a cold of that magnitude. lol.

My booger was frozen so I jump into the first taxi I found with only 70 dollars in my pocket,  the f*** taxi driver charge me 50 dollars!!  so I only had 20 dollars left on me. I never thought that a taxi was going to be that much expensive. After 10 minutes I arrived at the JFK Airport!. Finally I would be able to take the plane that could take me to my final destination... Watertown. My joy did not last for long because one I got off the taxi I could not find my documents (passport, calendar).  I began to sweat cold, and my head was spinning around. I felt like my neurons were having the loudest party ever because I couldn't even hear myself. I could not listen to what the taxi driver was saying. And As I was standing outside the airport I did not know what to do. All of the sudden I went back to normal, and I checked everywhere in the back seat, in the trunk, but not my passport was not there!

"Tragedy!, the end of the world." I thought.

The taxi driver told me he would go to La Guardia airport to see if the passport was still there, What a nice guy! I thought. However the bastard never returned. There was no way I would have my documents back. My flight to Watertown was leaving in 15 minutes then I approached one of the attendees at the airport and ask them if they could travel without a passport. She answered me, "No sir, you need documentation to travel."

My mom's phone number was written in my agenda along with all the addresses of the places I had to go. I was completely lost at JFK airport.

Gracias!..

Up

Hola!...so before you guys read the next post.. I want you all to go to you right hand side and click on the following button, you can follow me either by e-mail or if you have a google account. Thanks!

so where we were last time?.... AhA! I remembered!

The plane was about to depart and my heart was beating wayyyy too fast, I clearly remembered there was a smiley flight attendant receiving the last passenger on board. This last lady was not as nice and beautiful as the last one.

After thinking what to do for a few minutes I stood from my seat and asked; "Where is Maria??"
The flight attendant politely replied; "May I help you sir?"

I was too tired to try to speak good English so the first thing that came to my mind was; "Where is Maria?"

She said; "Who is Maria?"

Obviously the flight attendant did not know who Maria was, but I thought they would have a list of people who were to be on the plane.

right???

Anyways, I did not know how to explain that Maria was my mother's friends and that I was supposed to travel to NY with her.

This last part I hope you guys can understand, but this is How I asked the flight attendant about Maria; "Maria is friend, my mother, here,  Maria Martinez please."

As if she had seen a ghost, the flight attendant was clueless and she wasn't smiling anymore :( ... She moved closer to me and told me to repeat what I've just said. I took a deep breath and told her the same thing. Even I couldn't understand what I said. lol

Eventually the flight attendant left and then she returned in like 5 minutes, but this time she was holding a bunch of papers with different names on it.  She showed me a list saying that there was NO Maria Martinez registered in this flight.

With my eyes wide open I tried to read all the names on the list. Many of them I could not pronounce, so i searched under the letter 'M'  to finally realized that Maria was not there. sooo bad!!!

Again the flight attendant politely told me; "I am so sorry your mother could not make it" and then she ordered me to put the seat belt on because the plane was going to take off at any time.

When I fasten the seat belt I felt much fear. "Should I stay or should I go??"

Minutes later the plane started moving slowly and there was no way to go back. There was no Maria, no beautiful flight attendant, and no direction to go.

Flying through the sky of Miami, I closed my eyes and fell into a deep sleep.

Gracias.

The Departure

Hola!, It's me again.. After that terrible episode with the flight attendant I came to the conclusion that life is even more complicated that it seems. The flight from Lima to Miami lasted 5 long hours. I was really nervous because it was my first time travelling by airplane. I was travelling with my mom's friend she was an old lady and her name is Maria. This 70 years old lady who has lived in NYC for more than 40 years does not how to speak English very well. She would always say; "My English is not very good lookin'." And one would think that after 40 years living in the United States her English would be as perfect as anybody's. Then I thought, if this lady can not speak  English in 40 years, I am lost!!!

Once we arrived Miami airport I had no problem checking out at the airport. However, one of the agents detected objects of unknown origin in Maria's luggage. Maria likes to cook Peruvian food, but in order to cook Peruvian food she needs Peruvian products. So she brought all type of food with her such as; herbs, spices, tamales, and many more products to cook. Unfortunately she was arrested because she had not declared those products before arriving at the airport.

While Maria was shouting; "Somebody who speak Spanish!!", and  "Ay!, Dios mio!"  to the agents, I was running away from her to avoid any kind of problems. I was scared man!.

I looked at my boarding pass and my final destination was La Guardia Airport in NYC, so I grabbed my bagpack and decided to wait for Maria at the gate number 9.

I said to myself; "I have never been in NY, and I don't even know where is it but I really needed to get away from there."

The time of getting into the plane came and there was no trace of Maria. I was desperate looking everywhere, but she never came.

Then I thought; "Nothing bad could really happen!!?" It will be better to wait for her in NY.

And so I boarded the plane by myself and the rest ... is to be continued.

See you Next Time!

Gracias.

First Attempt.

Hola!, I would like to start stating the fact! lol. apologize if you find any typos or grammar errors in this blog. And please let me know about them, so I can fix them as quick as possible!.

-This first post is about how different things are in US compare to developing countries like mine. Let's start with the Language. As everybody know English is one of the hardest language to learn among others... well, at least it was for me! haha. My friends and Family back home told me that If I could not understand any word "Americanos" were saying, my only way to get to know what they were saying was asking "How do you say this or that?"

I was flying from Peru to US in December 3rd. I was all nervous and excited at the same time. I remembered while flying I tried to practice my "Ingles [English]" with one of the beautiful flight attendants that were in the plane.

While the beautiful and tall brunette flight attendant was approaching me I was all sweating but ready to practice my English with her!

Smiling I tried to said; "Excuse me ma'am, Can I have some water"

Her long hair was all tight up in an almost perfect pony tail, her tight skirt and blouse pronounce even more her slender figure so she replied; "I am not a man!, y hablo Espanol [I speak Spanish]."

Well, I must admit that my first attempt to speak the English language was a disaster.

This is my first post ever!, and I am thrilled because I have so many stories to tell about my journey in this amazing country!.

Do not hesitate to leave your comments!
